I started a Joke.

Rather He started a joke, and it don't not make the whole world cry. Fuck no it made us Laugh our cocks off. George Carlin, may you rest in peace. I love watching Carlin do his job, I love nothing more than watching Carlin work...it's true. The Man was a Comic God amongst men. He Was a force, he had an air about him. I was lucky to see the man live in Englewood, NJ and I will now never forget that memory. He was funny and smart and had a way with word and phrases that no other comic had. He had that pony tail that was the only thing he wore that could distract you, aside from that he wore black. No funny t-shirts, no leather suits, no sparkle jackets, no sport coat No trappings some comics try to use. He wore black because it was not what he wore on stage that you wanted to see you wanted to see him and hear him. Calling myself a comic is like calling myself a god damned Dr. for putting a band-aid on someone who is cut, But I do, do stand-up and I tell jokes...and he was my hero. when I do stand-up I wear black. I could gush on for days but that's silly. George Carlin has passed, no go and hit you-tube and watch Brilliance.

Sir, I don't need to look it up, I too have seen him live, in Las Vegas. Granted, this was right after his wife had passed away and he had that "wine addiction" or whatever it was being spun as (Ironically, if it was red wine he was addicted to, might it have saved his life?) He was a bit morose and focused on death, as I was very much at the time, but then who isn't after losing a loved one? He performed, he went one, moved forward! I laughed my ass off none the less.

I mourn just like you and countless others. Perhaps this is where I get my counter culture ways, I'm not a joiner, in any sense of the word. I'm myself, unapologetic and just being a stand-up comedian (citizen) fighting for the common word. The man is a true hero in ever sense of the original American hero term. You may not agree with him, but you'll damn sure fight to the death his right to say it.

RS3- I saw Carlin a bunch of times since I was young...he always came to the State Theater in New Brunswick. To me it was his way with the English language and how he (i hate the next word but it needs to be used) juxtaposed random ideas that made him so amazing. He's always been my #1 favorite comedian but thankfully he's got such a huge library of stuff he will live on forever. Lucky bastard! lol. I wish us bloggers could leave that kind of legacy!

i'll admit...
i never really got into carlin.
...or any comedian for that matter.
but the day he died my roommate came rushing into the kitchen with a pale face and yelled "you wont believe who died?!?!" i seriously thought her grandmother had died. so when she said george carlin, my response was "i thought he was already dead." hmmm. perhaps i do need to do some youtubing... apparently he was pretty fantastic to a lot of people.
that said... i also had forgetten (repressed??) that you were a comic of sorts.. we'll need to hang soon.. i am in need of a laugh. =/
